Calcite

Honey Calcite

A warm golden brown mineral collected in Central Washington. Formed 40 million years ago as water heated within the cooling molten magma chambers shot upwards, depositing calcite like honey along the edges of cooled volcanic rock. Exposed by weather and time, collected by the artist and embedded in a new concrete home.

Petrified Wood

Pure silica seeps into wet wood, preserving and petrifying it over time. When that silica forms a smooth, pearlescent shining surface it is known as opal - and if it traps water inside it, forming a sparkling rainbow surface it's known as fire opal. From apricot to buttery tones, this opalized wood provides a shimmering glimpse into a long-lost forest.
